Is this stuff the ultimate "repel boarders" device?
I don't know who here at GIM posted this stuff in another thread (can't find it) but the applications for this stuff are mind-boggling:
http://www.udap.com/Bearspecifications.htm Frankly, I'd rather have a can of this stuff in my hands at the top of my stairs than a shotgun; who gives a flap about body armor? If it can turn away an angry momma grizzly, it can turn away a team of invaders. Watch the videos. |

This is what I recommended to BullionVince in the above thread. I would still prefer to have a firearm as a primary deterrent/weapon but OC is very important to have available as an escalation of force tool. I have used OC on several aggressive dogs to protect my own dogs and family. Not every threat justifies the use of a gun. |

What do you do after you spray them?
How do you restrain multiple attackers until the police arrive? |

What if the wind is blowing back towards you?

Re: Is this stuff the ultimate "repel boarders" device?
What if the intruder at the bottom of the stairs has a gun? OC has it's place, but if someone invaded my house, I WOULD consider them to be armed and dangerous and take appropriate action..ie: Triple tap; 2 to the chest, 1 to the head

I'm going for the gun. Remember how Russia's top bear expert was found dead and partially eaten by a bear, right next to a couple of empty cans of bear repellent pepper spray?

Do yourself a favor and just kill them. |
Re: Is this stuff the ultimate "repel boarders" device?
The Wisconsin State Dept of Fish and Wildlife is advising
hikers, hunters, fishermen and golfers to take extra precautions and be on the alert for bears this summer. They advise people to wear noise-producing devices such as little bells on their clothing to alert but not startle the bears unexpectedly. They also advise you to carry pepper spray in case of an encounter with a bear. People should be able to recognize the presence of bears in an area by their droppings: Black bear droppings are smaller and contain berry residue and possibly squirrel fur. Grizzly bear droppings have little bells in them and smell like pepper spray. |

What if the container has lost its pressure over time?
On a different note I had a large can of pepper spray explode in my car once due to it being a hot day. That car was never the same again... |
Re: Is this stuff the ultimate "repel boarders" device?
Pepper spray is effective but it WILL get you too, I have witnessed this with police at my work who have used it to try and break up the occasional drunken fracas. I had to bring one of the officers into my office to sit with a water rag on his face for an hour, his face was red as a beet and eyes watering uncontrollably for most of that time (read as he was no longer functional!), and he was on the user end of the pepper spray canister.
